Music for Contemporary Dance: Dasein

angharad

I recently composed a piece for contemporary dancer Angharad Harrop. Inspired by the work of philosopher Martin Heidegger’s thoughts on existence and three experiences which influenced Angharad’s choreography. These were Morris dancing, Capoeira and the sea.

The music was composed using original field recordings, which were then manipulated using digital signal processing techniques.

The first performance was on the 6th May 2009 as part of Angharad’s MA in Dance and Professional Practice at De Montfort University, Leicester.
