Wounded Furniture

I went to a great gig last night which was curated by the Noise Doctor John Richards.

It was a mixed program, including solo performances by Richards, Dushume and NealUnreal, audio visual work by Tim Wright and a collaboration between Nic Bullen, John Richards and percussionists Baz and Jeff from the Dirty Electronics Ensemble.

Although the evening was full of sonic treats, my highlight was Danny Dursely and Robin Foster’s performance of Wounded furniture, a piece where the performers wound (smash) furniture with hammers and saws, while sampling and processing the sounds in real time using their laptops.

The performances were interspersed by fluxus pieces and I performed a few short pieces with the dirty electronics ensemble, including two sudophone pieces and Nivea Cream by fluxus artist Alison Knowles.

The event was organised by Leicester artist collective dot as part of the Arena festival. More gigs like this please!
